Child Aadhar Enrollment Project
Minimum age to apply for AADHAAR Card for Child is 1 year. Upto age 5, child’s fingerprints and eyes’ iris keep developing and changing. Therefore no biometric data will be collected for kids and children below age 5. AADHAAR Card for children below age 5 is linked to their parents/guardian’s AADHAAR. For kids below 5 years of age, father / mother / guardian details and their AADHAAR Card enrollment number is required.
For 5 year or older kids, biometric data will be collected as usual. However children, who are below 15 years age, will have to apply for AADHAAR Card one last time after they turn 15. For the complete step by step application procedure, click here: How to apply for AADHAAR Card.
As a side note, bring enough water some snacks and books/toys to keep the kids busy during the waiting period at the AADHAAR Card center.
Documents needed to apply for AADHAAR Card for Child
The document requirements for kids are similar to that of adults. Most kids will have Date of Birth certificate. If the kids have their own Passport, it will serve as Proof of Identity, Proof of Address as well as Proof of Date of Birth. However, many kids will not have their own Proof of Identity and/or Proof of Address documents.
In that case, one of the parents / guardian can introduce the child for AADHAAR Card. Introducing parent / guardian’s documents will be required along with Proof of Relationship document. Also parent / guardian’s EID / AADHAAR number is required. Incase the parent / guardian is also applying together with the child, the operator will first register the parent / guardian for AADHAAR Card.
